Wheaton Park District participates in the DYTBL (DuPage Youth Travel Basketball League), a competitive feeder/park district affiliate basketball league. This program emphasize a higher level of competitiveness. Because this is a competitive basketball program, playing time is not guaranteed. Player progress during the season is strongly affected by player attendance, therefore, all practices and games have mandatory attendance. This program is designed to help progress athletes as players and individuals. The goal of this program is development athlete’s skills, fundamentals as well as promote safety, fun, sportsmanship and honest competition.


Teams will have two practices per week. Teams will play between 14 and 18 league games depending on what division they’re put into. All teams will compete in at least two tournaments and will play in the end of the season tournament for the DYTBL. Games and tournaments are usually on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Some teams will have the occasional game during the week.


Thunder (Grades: 4-8)

This program is offered to players in 4-8 grader who are interested in playing basketball at a competitive level. The season begins in October and runs until the beginning of March. This is a traveling program and playing time is not guaranteed. When registering for the tryouts, you are acknowledging that you read and fully understand the program requirements.
