PROGRAMS

Program emphasizes skills, tactics, sportsmanship and fun. Everyone is guaranteed a chance to play at least one quarter of each game. Teams meet no more than twice a week for practice and games.

Wheaton Park District participates in the DuPage Youth Travel Basketball League, a competitive high school feeder and park district affiliate travel basketball program.

TRAVEL/FEEDER BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS DETAILS

The Pilot Basketball program provides an opportunity for neighbors and schoolmates to play together. This program is unique because the games and practices are held at the schools which participants attend.

Participating Schools

The Wheaton Thunder basketball program is for girls in 4th-8th grade. The girls compete in the DYTBL Girls League. This is a competitive program. Playing time is not guaranteed; practice and game attendance is mandatory.

THUNDER TRAVEL BASKETBALL PROGRAM

The DuPage Youth Travel Basketball League (DYTBL) has created a Girls League to go along with their boy’s league. The WSGBL merged with the DYTBL to form the girls division. Both leagues consist of teams affiliated with a park district or high school feeder program.

Visit the CDC website for the free online course: HEADS UP Online Training Upon completion of the course and quiz, a certificate will be issued. Certificates should be printed and emailed to dmitchell@wheatonparks.org.

Volunteer Application & Background Check Waiver (PDF)
In accordance with the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act [325 ILCS 5/4], volunteers are required to report or cause a report to be made to the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline at 1-800-25-ABUSE (1-800-252-2873) whenever there is reasonable cause to believe that a child known to that volunteer in their professional or official capacity may be abused or neglected.
