Wheaton Park District participates in the DuPage Youth Travel Basketball League, a competitive high school feeder and park district affiliate travel basketball program. This program emphasize a higher level of competitiveness. Because this is a competitive travel basketball program, playing time is not guaranteed. Player progress during the season is strongly affected by player attendance, therefore, all practices and games have mandatory attendance. If everyone is on the same page, the team will be successful. This program is designed to help players progress as a player and as a person. The goal of this program is athletic development, safety, having fun, and honest competition.
Teams will practice twice a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes each practice. Depending on the age level, teams will play between 25-40 games during a season. Teams will play home and away games, and participate in leagues and tournaments. Games and tournaments are usually on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Some teams will have the occasional game during the week.

We are fortunate to have very knowledgeable volunteer coaches, we appreciate the time they donate to help with the program. By these coaches volunteering, we are able to keep the cost of the program down, passing on the savings to our program participants. The coaches help players develop their individual skills while focusing on the team as a whole. Every minute of practice time is valuable, so we ask parents to approach coaches before or after practice with questions, not during. Practices are open and parents are encouraged to attend. We ask that parents let the coaches do the coaching and avoid coaching from the sidelines.
Note: This program does not conflict with Middle School Basketball teams.
