Pilot Program

The Pilot Basketball program provides an opportunity for neighbors and schoolmates to play together. This program is unique because the games and practices are held at the schools which participants attend.

Madison Elementary School

Address: 1620 Mayo Ave., Wheaton, Illinois 60189

Grades: 3rd & 4-5th (Corec)

Description: Players must live within the Madison school boundary. The program runs from early November through mid March. Each team will have three practices prior to the season beginning. Games are once or twice a week on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday at Madison Elementary.

Registration is first come, first served at the Wheaton Park District. Registration forms are distributed by the school. Registration fee includes a team jersey; make checks payable to Wheaton Park District. The deadline for registration is the first Monday in December. Teams are formed by random draw.

If you are interested in coaching or assistant coaching please indicate that on your child’s registration. A coach meeting will be scheduled; coaches will be notified when this information becomes available.

Become a Volunteer

Volunteers must complete the following:

Visit the CDC website for the free online course: HEADS UP Online Training Upon completion of the course and quiz, a certificate will be issued. Certificates should be printed and emailed to dmitchell@wheatonparks.org.

Volunteer Application & Background Check Waiver (PDF)
In accordance with the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act [325 ILCS 5/4], volunteers are required to report or cause a report to be made to the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline at 1-800-25-ABUSE (1-800-252-2873) whenever there is reasonable cause to believe that a child known to that volunteer in their professional or official capacity may be abused or neglected.
