Players
Everything you say and do should be consistent with the six core ethical values comprising good character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.

Parents
A primary goal of sports is to build character while teaching the fundamentals of the game. The CHARACTER COUNTS project promotes six core ethical values: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and good citizenship. Parental involvement and cooperation is essential to the success of the program. While attending practices or games. Help maintain a positive environment for the development of character.

Coaches
Remember your primary goals are to build character and self-esteem and promote teamwork and leadership while teaching the fundamental rules and having fun. Everything you say and do should be consistent with the six core ethical values comprising good character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.

Become a Volunteer

Volunteers must complete the following:

Visit the CDC website for the free online course: HEADS UP Online Training Upon completion of the course and quiz, a certificate will be issued. Certificates should be printed and emailed to dmitchell@wheatonparks.org.

Volunteer Application & Background Check Waiver (PDF)
In accordance with the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act [325 ILCS 5/4], volunteers are required to report or cause a report to be made to the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline at 1-800-25-ABUSE (1-800-252-2873) whenever there is reasonable cause to believe that a child known to that volunteer in their professional or official capacity may be abused or neglected.
